Picking Up and Dropping Off Students

There has been some concern over the picking up and dropping off of Middle School students at the middle School.  The Transportation Department has set up a policy that we feel is in the best interest of everyone, especially the students.

The parking lot between the Middle School and the Vocational School is for teacher parking, students with classes at the vocational school and bus parking only.  Parents are not to be dropping students off in that parking lot at all during the hours of 7:30am through 3:45pm.  Parents are to drop off their students in the horseshoe parking lot in the front of the Middle School by the Middle Schools office.  You can also park on the West side of Arizona Ave, North side of 18th street or drop off in the Norby Center parking lot.

If parents make sure that their students have everything they need, their band instrument, book bag, ect. and the students exit the vehicle as soon as it is pull up, then traffic should flow a lot more freely.  Students should also exit their parents vehicles when they are either in the first, second, third, or fourth vehicle in line, this way those first four vehicles can then leave and then the next four can pull forward and so on.

Also, parents should not go through the parking lot where vehicles are parked, this is not a driveway and only ties up the traffic more.  Parents should always enter the lot and follow the driveway around to pick up and drop off.

This policy should be used both in the morning and in the afternoon when picking up your students.  If everyone would follow this procedure, we feel that the traffic would flow more freely and everyone will be a lot safer.
