Cheryl Ladd Cheryl Jean Stoppelmoor is perhaps one of Huron’s more well-known natives. Never heard of her? How about “Charlie’s Angels” star Cheryl Ladd? The television, film and Broadway star was born in Huron on July 12, 1951. Cheryl attended Huron schools, graduating from Huron High School in 1969. In the years past, visitors to The Barn Restaurant on South Highway 37, where she worked as a carhop as a teen, could visit the Cheryl Ladd Room to see photographs, posters and other items on display. Cheryl sang with a local rock group, the Music Shop Band, while in high school. This took her on the road every weekend, singing across the state. After graduation, she left for Los Angeles with the band to pursue her dream of a show business career. The group members went their separate ways after two members were injured in a car accident. Cheryl was determined and wouldn’t give up. Her first steady work in Los Angeles was as the voice of Melody in the TV cartoon series, “Josie and the Pussy Cats.”
